Each of these carries legal duties under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (85 of 1993) and its regulations, and under the Mine Health and Safety Act (29 of 1996) where applicable, including the Noise Exposure Regulations, 2024, the Regulations for Hazardous Chemical Agents, 2021 and the Physical Agents Regulations, 2024.

    Which assessments are legally required on our site?
    It depends on the hazards present. The Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations require exposure risk assessments, usually repeated at intervals not exceeding two years, for noise, hazardous chemical agents, lead, asbestos, physical agents such as heat, cold, vibration and lighting, ergonomics and biological agents.
