OCCUPATIONAL HYGIENE FOR HOSPITALS, CLINICS AND LABORATORIES
Hospitals, clinics and laboratories expose staff to infectious agents, anaesthetic gases, sterilants and laboratory chemicals, often in buildings with ventilation that was never designed for today's use.
Qualitas carries out the occupational hygiene assessments healthcare employers need: hazardous biological agent risk assessments, chemical monitoring, ventilation and indoor air quality surveys, ergonomics and lighting. We do not provide medical surveillance; that is done by your occupational health practitioner.

OUR SERVICES FOR HEALTHCARE
- How often must a hospital review its biological agents risk assessment?
At least every two years under the Regulations for Hazardous Biological Agents, 2022, and sooner if work practices, equipment or the agents involved change.
Do theatres need anaesthetic gas monitoring?
Where waste anaesthetic gases may escape, the chemical risk assessment should consider monitoring theatre and recovery staff. Leaking circuits and poor scavenging are the usual causes of high results.
Does Qualitas do medical surveillance or blood tests?
No. Qualitas measures workplace exposure. Medical surveillance, including any biological testing, is done by an occupational health practitioner, who uses our results to plan it.
