OCCUPATIONAL HYGIENE IN JOHANNESBURG
Johannesburg packs heavy industry, logistics hubs, hospitals and corporate head offices into one metro, and each of them carries its own legal duties for occupational exposure.
Qualitas carries out occupational hygiene surveys for factories in the southern industrial areas, distribution centres in City Deep and Midrand, healthcare facilities, and office buildings from the CBD to Sandton.

WHY QUALITAS
Qualitas Occupational Consulting is a Department of Employment and Labour Approved Inspection Authority (AIA) and a SANAS-accredited (ISO/IEC 17020) inspection body for asbestos, lead, noise and hazardous chemical agents, and applies the same quality system to all its assessments.
Every assessment is led by Christo de Wet, an occupational hygienist registered with the Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH), with 15 years of experience.
We work nationwide, and Qualitas has also carried out assessments in Botswana and Kazakhstan. Travel is quoted upfront.

OUR SERVICES IN JOHANNESBURG
- Our staff complain about stuffy air in our Sandton office. What does an indoor air quality survey measure?
Usually carbon dioxide as a measure of fresh-air supply, temperature, humidity, and where relevant particulates, volatile organic compounds and mould. The report compares the results with the Facilities Regulations and recognised guidelines and says what to fix.
Does a warehouse need a noise survey?
If anyone may be exposed at or above 85 dB(A), yes. Forklifts, conveyors, compressors and reversing alarms often push a distribution centre over that line. The Noise Exposure Regulations, 2024 require a risk assessment and, where needed, monitoring by an approved inspection authority.
We recycle lead-acid batteries. What monitoring is required?
The Lead Regulations require air monitoring by a lead AIA, or a person it has verified, wherever exposure to lead may be significant. Qualitas is a DEL AIA for lead. Blood lead testing is a medical surveillance task done by an occupational health practitioner, not by Qualitas.
