OUR SERVICES IN PRETORIA AND CENTURION

Our building in Pretoria is older than 2008. Do we need an asbestos inventory?
If asbestos-containing materials are or may be present, yes. The Asbestos Abatement Regulations, 2020 require them to be identified and recorded in an asbestos inventory by an asbestos inspection authority. Qualitas is a DEL AIA for asbestos.

How often must the spray booth extraction be tested?
Under regulation 12(b) of the Regulations for Hazardous Chemical Agents, 2021, local exhaust ventilation must be examined and tested at intervals not exceeding 24 months. Qualitas does these tests as part of its AIA scope.

Do government departments need the same assessments as private employers?
Yes. The Occupational Health and Safety Act applies to the state as an employer, so departments, hospitals and schools have the same duties to assess noise, chemicals, asbestos and the other hazards.
